Gone is the allure of traditional department stores. Most have become so drab and interchangeable that a Miracle on 34th Street merely means no line for the restroom at Macy’s. But there’s a new brand of department store on the block, one that lulls visitors into a world so full of color, texture, and whimsy that just about anything seems possible. I’m referring to Anthropologie’s new concept stores. For now, they’re only in Portland, OR, King of Prussia, PA, and Newport Beach, Walnut Creek and Palo Alto in California. But these gorgeous new stores turn the department store model on its head (and then bejewel it with the brand’s signature beading and tassels). The concept stores carry the full line of clothing (plus a wedding salon that could make anyone pop the question), accessories, jewelry, furniture, housewares, and—most importantly—beauty. Their expertly curated beauty department features plenty of FACE Stockholm favorites, and, I must say, we fit right in among the rich, turquoise velvet sofas, buttery leather satchels, and sparkly champagne flutes.
A trip to one of these stores could make you wish for the kind of miracle that entails Anthropologie miraculously lifting off the ground and being transported to your own home—perhaps with three clicks of a pair of ruby red Mary Jane’s? If you must dwell in reality and not in the Wonderful World of Oz, simply stop by the FACE Stockholm counter, where you can test all our eyeshadow colors, from playful to neutral, and compare lipstick swatches as if the enchanting store were your own home… only with a dreamy gold vanity mirror to confirm what you suspected: ‘tis the season for Hero Lipstick and a bit of fairy dust, I mean Pearl Shadow #28. 😉
